Gifford has donated to numerous charities which aid children, including Childhelp as well as the Association to Benefit Children and Cassidy's Place. Two houses that were named after the two kids she raised were Cassidy's Place & Cody House. An ardent humanitarian, she was awarded an honorary degree in the form of an honorary degree from Marymount University for her humanitarian efforts in the field of labor relations.
